Everest Base Camp Trek

In April 2013, my friend D and I embarked on a journey to explore and trek the mountains of Nepal. We settled with 2 treks - a small 5-day trek from Pokhara to Poon Hill in the Annapurna region, and the ambitious 14-day trek from Lukla to Everest Base Camp. This blog is my journal and personal account of the remarkable and memorable trip to Everest Base Camp.

In preparing for the trip, I encountered many obstacles and limitations, in particular, finding hiking trails for training, and sourcing for suitable gear and equipment, the latter which was not easy in a place like Penang. I learned many lessons, one of the most invaluable being that gear and equipment are really secondary to physical fitness, mental strength and the right attitude, in making the trek a success. I have also prepared a packing list for the female trekker for the Everest Base Camp trek, how and what to prepare before the trek, and some tips and lessons that I learned on the trek itself. I hope folks, especially Penangites and Malaysians who are planning such trips, will find them useful.
